Soleris® System and Vials

Soleris® System for Rapid Microbial Detection

The Soleris system is a fast optical system for detecting microbial contamination based on an innovative application of classical microbiology. Optical analysis measures microbial growth by monitoring pH and other biochemical reactions that cause color change, as microorganisms in bacteria multiply and metabolize nutrients. The results are monitored by the system that gives a warning for samples that are out of specification.

Sensitivity ranges from a single organism per vial to 108 cfu / mL (upper limit).

Soleris technology

Soleris technology monitors changes in the chemical properties of the microbial liquid growth medium and detects pH and other sensitive reagents and microorganisms. Reagents change their spectral models as the metabolic process takes place. These changes are detected photometrically by an optical device and monitored at predetermined time intervals.

The key to the technology is that these changes are tracked in the semi-liquid region of the patented organism-specific bottle (see right). This region is separated from the liquid medium, thus masking the optical path by the product or microbial turbidity is eliminated. Changes in color, expressed as optical units, are detected by the optical sensor and saved on the computer. Sample volumes up to 5 mL can be used. Various dyes (eg PH, redox, CO2 production and enzymatic activity) can be used in the system, which are indicators of metabolic activity.

Due to its design, the system can be used with swabs, sponges and filters to evaluate the levels of various organism groups as a critical control point on equipment, floor and environment. The advantage of Soleris over ATP is that it measures the presence of certain bacterial groups and quickly reveals the problems.
